Writing Revelations (& goals?)

Some writing revelations came to me while working on my Restless submission.

I decided to split my NaNo ’09 novel in half.  This means everything intended to be my story at the beginning of NaNo ’09 won’t be the novel at all.  Guess I really took my vow seriously do to make the soldiers proud (I’ll just call this person “B” to keep anonymity).  Aware or not, this person was one of the few to shape this novel. This means at least two things:

1) I am most likely changing the title of the novel.

2) NaNo ’10 might be the continuation of the story- if enough interest and feedback.  And it’s a good backup plan if I don’t have any inspiration for a new novel.

During this time I also have this epic idea for adapting a book into a screenplay.  It’s out of print and costs in the triple digits to score a copy.  And no: it’s not the Roadracers book I’ve been trying to get an authentic copy of.  Think more Old Yeller meets Band of Brothers.  [Not really, but it make a compelling cliffhanger]. Getting Critiqued on 01

Knowing I was going in a little bold and lengthy for my submission, I needed to have someone take a peek and see what highlights were there and improvements needed to be made. Most of the things said were put into my rewrite.

“It’s good. You just need to put the screenwriter had away and use some more description and open it up a bit.”

Thankfully I got a rather lengthy critique back which helped me out enormously.  Aside from the pertinent criticism were some added comments tossed in.  Since I had permission to repost, I decided to show some of them.

“It was a bit confusing as to where she was and how much time had actually passed and what she had done in that time. I really liked it but if you can open it up some more that would make it really rock.”

Maybe the comments alone could garner interest to read the story (which I’ll add eventually).  But you have to hit the jump to see… Continue reading

UPDATE: Notice about EG/Nano ’08 novel

This is an update to announce I will be posting chapters to my NaNo ’08 novel for the time being; until I can get more chapters of Chasing Alpha done.

I will delete my old monster novel dump in lieu of this method, which is bound to get more feedback.

Note: I do want to finish Chasing Alpha first… but this can tide people over or give an alternative to read my stuff if not into the whole “war” kind of motif.

All comments are appreciated – especially since whatever feedback I get will be put towards the completion (and motivation to finish) the novel.  Some of what I already heard will help make for a great conclusion and satisfy certain curiosities I have been hearing abotu the outcome of particular characters.

Thanks for the support!
